First off, Kudos to PANTONE for hearing the long-time app users and giving us the old color libraries. Thanks for listening.
As it stands, Studio is a step up from the old app. Its a fresh, new UI with some nice new prototyping previews. Color management is easier, and the app feels more personalizable than before.
All that said, I dont feel like the current payment model fits with the amount of content with the app. PANTONE is a color reference guide and I dont see them adding enough substantial content frequently enough to warrant a CC-esque subscription strategy.
Id love to hear more from PANTONE as to why theyve gone with a subscription model, and what their reasoning is behind the change before I can recommend it more.
PANTONEs great, and this is still the cheapest way of accessing the system. But, I just dont see the changes from MyPANTONE to Studio as substantial enough to warrant the change in cost.
